The AOI Workshop Method
Three steps from idea to product, in one day
What we learned from “Build Your First AI Product” on 29 August 2026 about designing workshops where non-engineers think, build and validate with AI.
01 Principle
Don’t teach. Make space to build.
Explaining how AI tools work doesn’t move people. The AOI Workshop Method is designed so participants start from their own problem and leave the same day with something that works.
At its heart are three steps — Think → Build → Validate. Not one of them, but all three in a single day: that is what turns an idea into action.
02 Three steps
Think → Build → Validate
- Think
Design Thinking — find the problem, decide what to build
Start from small everyday frustrations and define whose problem you are solving. Not rushing to the tools is what makes building fast later.
- Build
Vibe Coding — build by talking to AI
Understand just enough about front end, back end and AI models, learn how to tell AI what you want, and take a first version all the way to launch.
- Validate
Market Validation — let people try it, test the value
Improve through paired user tests and feedback, ask who would use it and why, and put it into words in a one-minute demo.
03 Design points
Five things we design for
From the participant survey (8 responses, 100% satisfied), these made the biggest difference.
- Keep the scope small — facilitators help everyone cut down to the core so it ships in a day.
- Back it with real technical support — help at the moment someone gets stuck decides whether they finish.
- Show real cases — people already earning with AI are more convincing than any slide.
- Bring in business thinking — thinking about value and market widens the view beyond “I made it”.
- Stay connected afterwards — a place to keep talking after the day pushes the next action.
04 For teams
Using it in organizations
The method works for company and team workshops too. Use everyday operations as the subject for “AI × Productive”, or new products and services for “AI × Creative”. Hearings set the subject; we design through to adoption after the workshop.
